Which sources appear in an AI answer?
When an AI answer shows links, those links may point to your site, directories, reviews, or publications. Each source type suggests different work.
How Logres helps
AI assistants recommend businesses, and yours may be missing while competitors appear; Logres finds likely visible reasons, helps fix supported gaps, and asks the same buyer questions again.

An AI answer may sound like one confident voice, but some answers also show links to public pages. Those links can help you understand which information was available beside the answer.
The most common source types are easy to recognize:
- Your website: service pages, location pages, FAQs, and other pages you control.
- Directories: listings that state where you are, what category you belong to, and how people can contact you.
- Review profiles: customer feedback and the words people use to describe their experience.
- Independent publications: articles, association pages, interviews, and other outside references.
The mix matters more than the count
Two businesses can appear next to each other while being supported by very different public information.
One may have a clear service page, current location details, and consistent outside listings. Another may have only an old directory entry. The answer can look balanced even when the public information behind each business is not equally complete.
Firm A — named, described specifically
Firm B — named, described vaguely
- Own site
- Directories
- Review profiles
- Publications
Logres therefore checks two separate things: whether your business was named and whether your own pages appeared among the source links shown. Being recommended and being used as a source are not the same result.
What you can improve
You cannot choose which links an assistant will show. You can improve the public material available to choose from:
- make service and location pages specific;
- keep names, addresses, hours, and services consistent;
- answer common buyer questions clearly;
- add readable business details and supporting page markup;
- review stale profiles and outside descriptions where edits are possible.
These changes do not guarantee a citation or recommendation. They make your public information clearer and give a later check something concrete to review.
Common questions
Does every AI answer show source links?
No. Source links vary by assistant, answer type, and product experience. Logres reports links only when they are actually shown.
Can you tell which source the assistant trusted most?
No. A shown link does not reveal the assistant’s hidden reasoning or the weight it gave that page. It is a visible clue, not a complete explanation.
Why check my own site separately?
Your website is the public source you control most directly. If it never appears while directories and competitor pages do, that is a clear reason to review the depth, clarity, and structure of your pages.

Why your analytics cannot see an AI recommendation
A buyer can choose from an AI answer without clicking your site. Website analytics miss that decision, so you need to check the answer itself.
